Healing is an interesting endeavour, because the timelines given are always averages or estimations. I stand in the middle of week 4 post-surgery and there have been many wonderful changes so far. But come week 6, it looks like I will have even more.
Here are some of the estimations I’ve found for what will happen at week 6:
- Vagus nerve dysfunction recovery (this includes the two below)
- IBS symptom recovery
- GERD recovery
- Dream recovery
- Sinus pressure/pain recovery
- Migraine recovery
Most of these seem to be resolving themselves already. I only have to take a single Tums to get through the day with my GERD symptoms. And once my body stops making so much rebound acid, that should go down to zero.
The sinus pressure and pain has been utterly manageable the last few days and I look forward to that no longer being an issue. My last migraine was over a week ago. Which I think has to do with the sinus pressure problem. Having a bad sinus pressure day meant I was much more likely to have a migraine. Also, I thankfully have my migraine medication if I do require it.
Still working on dreaming. I know I have to be patient, but it’s so strange to have not dreamt for years and then get the chance to do so again. I am very excited when it becomes a regular thing again.
Of course, I have milestones ranging from 8 weeks to 1 year post-surgery. I am looking forward for all the changes healing brings. The idea of no longer being chronically ill is quiet strange. But I promise, I can get used to it.
