My birthdays have seemed to have been wildly off kilter, despite my best intentions. I remember the day I turned 16, spending my birthday by myself eating slimy pizza and watching VHS tapes I rented from a local video store. My parents were out of town and didn’t call me.
I once had an amazing surprise karaoke birthday one year with friends filled with amazing food and great tunes. I spent my previous birthday on Allure of the Seas sailing in the Gulf of Mexico. Three years ago, a singer from one of my favorite girl groups of all time died on my birthday and I spent the rest of the day in tears watching old Girls Aloud music videos and concerts. Sarah Harding, you were taken too soon.
It’s been a mixed bag, to say the least.
This year, despite everything that has been going on with my health, I had a rather sunny outlook on hitting another birthday. Not just because I have already started planning my 40th birthday and it’s going to be amazing.
Biya Enters the Chat
This is Biya. She is a butterfly from Costco. She hopped into Dan’s shopping cart when he was there on a grocery trip and was so excited to join our family! I had to rescue her from the hallway closet in the morning. She was afraid of the dark.
Dinner Time!
Delicious. Dan and I went to Jasper’s in Cityline to enjoy a beautiful meal. I got the venison and he had the prime rib. Topped off with a chocolate martini.
And yes, I did share my birthday dessert. And yes, it was awesome.
